Greetings!
I'm so excited. I just finished writing a national book
entitled, Extra Scoop: How To Be a Movie Extra Anywhere in
America. It was great fun. I had the chance to interview
casting directors all across America, who were incredibly generous
with their advice to actors. There is so much goodwill in our
industry. With any luck the book will be out early next year,
along with their excellent tips. I'll keep you posted.
Now here's what really excites me:
As I researched every corner of the nation, I was surprised
at the wealth of resources I found for actors
in each state. When the
book was complete, I had 50 state files bulging with valuable
info, and a brand new mission.
The end product is the Blitz Pages, my state-by-state
resource guides for actors, which can be quickly downloaded directly onto your screen. Just visit our Bookstore to get your own copy now. I hope you enjoy
them as much as I enjoyed compiling them. As an actor,
I simply determined what info I would need if I moved to each
state. Then I blitzed that state with my trusty search
engines and dug up everything I could find. I kept digging and
digging until I couldn't think of a thing to add. I even hunted
down filmmakers' hangouts for networking purposes.
As a result, I ended up with lots of info for new filmmakers,
too, including support organizations, local online forums, alternative screening venues
and tons of film festivals in each region. The Blitz Pages are
quite unique. I think you're going to
like them.
It was so exhilarating to discover what's happening all
across America. In our new age of digital technology, quality
films are being made for a tenth of the cost, and virtually every
state is experiencing an explosion of indie filmmaking that
didn't exist 5-10 years ago. Trust me, folks, it's not about
Hollywood any more! Filmmakers are no longer interested in "how
to make it in Hollywood" when they can just as easily make it
in their own backyards. Of course, this creates many new opportunities
for actors as well.
I just finished working on Indiana and was very impressed. It's
a terrific state for actors and filmmakers! Enough already with "Hooray
for Hollywood," let's hear it for Georgia! Stand up and
take a bow, Oklahoma! West Virginia, you rock, mountain mama!
I never had so much fun working so hard.
I am happy to report that the first 30 states are now available.
To check the status of the Blitz
Pages for your home state, click on What's New. Then go
directly to the Blitz Contents and you'll see why I'm so excited
about them. Each guide includes info for actors and filmmakers
specific to their state, including free casting websites
where you won't have to pay to read audition notices. If they
ain't free, they ain't in the Blitz Pages. Period.
Since they are Internet-oriented, the Blitz Pages are
especially helpful to those with computers. For those without, I've
included contact information and detailed descriptions whenever
possible. I am
certain you'll find the Blitz Pages very useful
and packed with all the info you need to hit the ground running,
wherever you live.
Go knock 'em dead!
